The diocesan-wide approach to parish growth supported through local people, plans and prayer.

  • The volunteer missionary network forms the one of the three pillars of Some Definite Service. These missionary disciples are volunteers who seek to participate in the mission of Jesus and his Church. This network is sustained through intentional accompaniment focusing on one person at a time.

  • Parish Plans are an opportunity to build and to realise the parish’s own goals and plans. The suggested planning process follows a pattern inspired by John 1:35-39: VISION (what is the Lord’s desire for our parish and what are our hopes?); REALITY (what is our local context and our current situation?) and PLAN (what can we concretely undertake in these three areas to bridge the gap between the reality and our vision).

  • Prayer is a living and personal relationship with God and is the foundation of Some Definite Service. Prayer is key to each interaction between members of the Volunteer Missionary Network. The Parish Plan Process is rooted in prayer and intercessors pray for everything connected in Some Definite Service.
